Library Page (Shelver)

Summary

As a Library Page, you will play a vital role in maintaining the order and organization of our library shelves, ensuring a seamless experience for patrons in accessing library materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

● Shelving and Shelf Maintenance

• Retrieve library materials from book drops and return them to their designated shelves accurately
• Shelf reading to organize and arrange materials in proper order according to the library's classification system
• Assist in keeping the library shelves tidy and well organized

• Library Support
  • Aid patrons in locating books and materials on the shelves
  • Assist with setup and breakdown of library displays and exhibits
  • Provide support to library staff during events and programs
• General Maintenance
  • Monitor and report any maintenance issues related to shelving, furniture, or equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness in assigned work areas
  • Assist with cleaning as needed
• Event Support
  • Assist in organizing and promoting library events, such as book clubs, workshops, and reading programs

Supervisory Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently
• Basic knowledge of library classification systems is a plus
• Enthusiasm for books, reading, and library services
