Licensed Mental Health Professional

About Turing:

Based in San Francisco, California, Turing is the world’s leading research accelerator for frontier AI labs and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. Turing supports customers in two ways: first, by accelerating frontier research with high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, plus top AI researchers who specialize in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents; and second, by applying that expertise to help enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence with systems that perform reliably, deliver measurable impact, and drive lasting results on the P&L.

Role Overview:

We are seeking experienced Licensed Mental Health Professionals to help evaluate and enhance large language model (LLM) outputs related to mental health and psychological well-being. You’ll assess AI-generated content for clinical accuracy, safety, and appropriateness — contributing to the development of responsible AI that supports evidence-based mental health information. Selected talents will review and annotate text, audio, or survey-based data related to mood, stress, emotional states, and mental wellbeing to support responsible AI development in mental health contexts.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day:

  • Label emotional tone, mood indicators, stress markers, and wellbeing-related themes in conversational or written data.
  • Apply validated frameworks (e.g., PHQ-9-style constructs, sentiment/affect taxonomies) per guidelines.
  • Identify sensitive content requiring escalation (e.g., crisis language, self-harm indicators) per established safety protocols.
  • Ensure annotations reflect nuance, context, and cultural sensitivity around mental health topics.
  • Contribute to refining guidelines for ambiguous or borderline cases.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive content with care and professionalism.

Requirements:

  • Background in psychology, counseling, social work, or related behavioral health field.
  • Understanding of mental health terminology and common wellbeing frameworks.
  • Strong emotional resilience and judgment when handling sensitive material.
  • Ability to follow strict confidentiality and safety escalation protocols.
  • Ideal to have a MacBook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical or counseling experience.
  • Prior experience with content moderation or mental health data annotation.
  • Training in trauma-informed approaches to reviewing sensitive content.

Perks of Freelancing with Turing:

  • Work on the cutting edge of AI.
  • Fully remote and flexible work environment.
  • Exposure to advanced LLMs and insight into how they’re trained.

Offer Details:

  • Engagement type: Contractor assignment/freelancer (no medical/paid leave)
  • Duration: 8 weeks

Evaluation Process:

  • Shortlisting based on qualifications and one round of interview.
