Licensed Practical Nurse

Perform clinical duties under the direction of a physician. This individual ensures that supplies and equipment are available to facilitate efficient, effective care. It is important that a friendly, caring, courteous, and professional attitude is always displayed as this person has front-line contact with patients and families.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records
2. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocol, cleaning exam procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
3. Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height
4. Accompanying patients to the appropriate exam room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, and prepare them for the physician
5. Assisting and Caring for Others — providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients
6. Documenting/Recording Information — entering, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form
7. Getting Information — observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
8. Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, Patients, and Physicians — providing accurate messages/instructions by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
9. Interacting with Computers — Using computers and electronic medical records to enter data, or process information
10. Cleaning according to scheduled maintenance program and keeping appropriate records; managing inventory of supplies; assisting with the ordering of patient care supplies, restocking treatment rooms, exam rooms, and procedure room
11. Answers clinical phone calls
12. Checks phone messages hourly and return all calls before lunch, midafternoon, and prior to leaving for the day
13. Complies with all AZCCC policies and procedures
14. Maintains strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data
15. Works shifts as assigned. Scheduled shifts/locations will rotate according to clinic needs
16. Performs sterilization and high-level disinfection
17. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor, physician assistant(s), physician (s), and clinic administrator
