The Space & Airborne Systems (SAS) Center within Systems Engineering & Test Capabilities (SE&TC) is seeking Systems Engineers to support the Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) Department. LCE provides system‑level troubleshooting, reliability improvements, and sustainment support across radar hardware and software programs.

LCE System Engineers will lead the depot integration of hardware and software, create and execute test plans and procedures, evaluate system functions and interfaces, and verify requirements in support of final sell‑off. This role requires regular collaboration across engineering disciplines and program partners to drive system solutions.

Engineers in this role also help update the Concept of Operations (CONOPS), define and manage system requirements, and oversee qualification, verification, and validation. Additional responsibilities include conducting functional and physical analyses, performing trade studies, and using large data sets and analytics tools to identify trends, support failure investigations, and drive data‑informed engineering decisions. Occasional travel may be required for test event support, typically not exceeding 20%. This is an onsite position in El Segundo, California.

What You Will Do:

  • Support Radar System Integration Laboratory (RSIL) Integration, Verification, and Validation activities and troubleshoot system issues in lab, field, or depot environments
  • Diagnose failures through detailed data analysis, root‑cause investigation, and corrective‑action recommendations using lab and field test equipment
  • Produce clear performance evaluations using tools such as MATLAB and analytics platforms (e.g., SQL‑based tools)
  • Prepare and deliver concise technical findings to IPTLs, Systems Engineering, Chief Engineering, and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate engineering efforts related to hardware test, troubleshooting, sustainment, and depot returns
  • Review and refine system architectures and technical solutions with engineering teams
  • Maintain engineering specifications, drawings, and engineering databases
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Engineering IPTLs
  • Participate in engineering tag‑ups, cross‑functional meetings, and working groups
  • Ensure compliance with process requirements and support mock‑up hardware assessments
  • Apply predictive analytics and modeling to anticipate failures and improve lifecycle planning
  • Create Python scripts and tools to analyze system/test data, automate workflows, and produce actionable insights

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and experience with providing system‑level troubleshooting, reliability improvements, and sustainment support across radar hardware and software programs.
  • Data analysis and automation tools (Microsoft Office, MATLAB, Python)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Airborne Radar
  • Electrical test equipment, circuit, wiring, and electronic diagnostics tools: multimeters, oscilloscopes, tachometer, signal generator, etc.
  • Experience with reading and integrating software routines with hardware
  • Instrumentation and collection of large data sets, including the application of scripting or automation to data collection and analysis
  • Interpret and synthesize operational or test data to support system performance assessments and continuous improvement.
  • Software (coding, software languages, GUI tools, macros, etc.)

The salary range for this role is 62,900 USD - 119,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
