This position is in Region 9, Air & Radiation Division, Permit & Rules Branch, Rules Section. You will: Provide policy and procedural guidance to state/local/tribal air agencies and work with them to coordinate and develop regulations, required revisions to State Implementation Plans (SIP), and source-specific SIP actions. Initiate State Implementation Plan rulemaking actions and recommendations for approving or disapproving state-submitted SIP revisions after performing review and evaluation of technical, procedural, and regulatory compliance and Clean Air Act requirements. Provide technical assistance to state/local/tribal air pollution control agencies on control measures and strategies to meet the requirements of the Clean Air Act related to National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) and other control programs, including the development or revision of SIPs. If you are selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period if appointed as Competitive Service or a two-year trial period if appointed as Excepted Service. This position is designated as Moderate Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation.
