This position is part of our Summer Season, requiring availability from Mid-May through Labor Day.
This position is available for those ages 16+. ($16 per hour)
Must be comfortable swimming in water without touching the bottom.
Job Description:
Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of guests in and around aquatic attractions by preventing and responding to emergencies and upholding all Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Standards. This position ensures safe and efficient attraction operation while providing exceptional guest service and creating memories worth repeating.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide guest supervision in and around water attractions.
- Verbally communicate and enforce safety policies, procedures, and attraction rules and report violations to leadership.
- React calmly and quickly in emergency situations and provide care consistent with Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program.
- Visually observe guest actions and attraction operation to ensure a safe guest experience.
- Maintain count of number of participants as required to ensure a consistent participant experience.
- Provide park information and initiate friendly and professional interactions with guests to Create Memories Worth Repeating™.
- Participate in all required trainings including weekly in-service trainings.
- Follow all Host Safety Standards and General Safety Training guidelines and use associated injury prevention measures.
- Suspend operations when Safety Standards or Procedures have been violated or a safety hazard to guests or hosts occurs.
- Enforce all park policies, rules, and regulations.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with park policies and standards, including wearing proper uniform at all times.
- Administer first aid in the event of injury, rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administer CPR and/or artificial respiration, if necessary, per Ellis & Associates training and operational standards.
- Inspect the facility and equipment on a daily basis and report safety issues to leadership.
- Complete all assigned documentation including Safety Training Plans (STPs).
- Provide clear verbal instructions to guests.
- Additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 16 years old.
- Ability to work an average of at least 3 scheduled shifts per week during 7-day operation.
- Positive attitude.

- Ability to take action to meet the needs of guests within reason and park/company guidelines.

- Ability to be sensitive to the needs of our guests and feel empowered to act to meet those needs within company guidelines.
- Ability to maintain current certification in the following:
- Ellis & Associates International Lifeguard Training ProgramTM – Special Facilities Lifeguard or Shallow Water Lifeguard
- Aquatics Safety Training
- Attraction-specific training for all assigned areas.
- Monthly Safety-Critical Standards sign-off
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, including up to 40 hours per week.
- Participation in all required training sessions.
- Computer literate with ability to use various department and park-wide software systems
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Candidates who are at least 18 years old must complete a pre-employment background check.
