LIFEGUARD

The Lifeguard supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Lifeguards are responsible for the welfare and safety of all participants in and around the swimming pool and deck. Responsible for ensuring that patrons use the pool for different purposes (i.e., open swimming, lap swimming and instruction) blend together with minimal conflict.
Job responsibilities
- Supervise activities in the pool ensuring patrons follow pool rules.
- Ensure pool is safe and be alert for swimmers having difficulties in the pool.
- Be familiar with appropriate section of Chapter HFS 172 Safety, Maintenance and Operation of Public Swimming Pools.
- Surveillance of patrons in the pool and on the pool deck.
- Complete accident/incident reports as needed.
- Report failing equipment to supervisor.
- Be alert and attentive to pool area and deck.
- Other duties as assigned.
