Days/Hours: Varies, pool open 7 days a week including evenings and weekends

Lifeguards maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas, ensuring a secure environment for all participants. They foster a positive atmosphere that prioritizes safety and engagement, strictly adhering to YMCA policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain vigilant and constant surveillance of the pool area to ensure participant safety.
2. Review and understand all emergency procedures, responding promptly to emergencies in alignment with YMCA policies and completing all required reports.
3. Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with members, participants, and fellow staff.
4. Consistently enforce and adhere to safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
5. Accurately maintain records as required by the YMCA and state Health Department regulations.
6. Conduct equipment checks regularly and ensure all necessary equipment is available and in good condition.
7. Inspect the pool area for hazardous conditions upon arrival and take appropriate action to address concerns.
8. Perform chemical testing at designated times throughout the day and implement necessary adjustments to maintain water quality.
9. Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed and maintain compliance with YMCA standards.
