POSITION DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Lifeguard
Starting Rage: $13.73/hour
Days/Hours: Varies, pool open 7 days a week including evenings and weekends
POSITION SUMMARY:
Lifeguards maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas, ensuring a secure environment for all participants. They foster a positive atmosphere that prioritizes safety and engagement, strictly adhering to YMCA policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Maintain vigilant and constant surveillance of the pool area to ensure participant safety.
- Review and understand all emergency procedures, responding promptly to emergencies in alignment with YMCA policies and completing all required reports.
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with members, participants, and fellow staff.
- Consistently enforce and adhere to safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
- Accurately maintain records as required by the YMCA and state Health Department regulations.
- Conduct equipment checks regularly and ensure all necessary equipment is available and in good condition.
- Inspect the pool area for hazardous conditions upon arrival and take appropriate action to address concerns.
- Perform chemical testing at designated times throughout the day and implement necessary adjustments to maintain water quality.
- Attend all mandatory staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed and maintain compliance with YMCA standards.
