Lifeguard/ Swim Instructor
Summary
Teach private and small-group swim lessons to children, enforce pool safety, and respond to emergencies at a K-12 school campus in Santa Monica.
Work Hours: Varies throughout the year/season with varied morning, mid day and evening shifts available on weekdays and weekends.
Essential Job Functions:
- Have the ability to confidently lead private swim lessons as well as small group lessons
- Prevents injury by conducting proper surveillance and enforcing pool rules
- Act as part of the rescue team in the event of any emergency while on duty at the aquatic facility
- Must attend at least one in-service training per year

- Understanding of how to create appropriate swim lessons for various skill levels and ages as per Red Cross WSI standards
- The ability to correctly identify a student’s skill level and conduct a lesson that follows meaningful progressions
- The ability to correct dangerous or forbidden behavior while maintaining a respectful tone with patrons
- The ability to fill out incident reports in the case of an injury while on duty
- Understanding the facilities EAP and being prepared to use it
