Lifeguard – QC NY Spa (Governors Island)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a vigilant, team-oriented, and hospitable Lifeguard to join our wellness oasis at QC NY Spa on Governors Island. In this role, you will be the primary guardian of our guests' safety while ensuring their experience remains relaxing and luxurious.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor Patron Safety: Actively scan and monitor the pools and surrounding areas to ensure the continuous safety and well-being of all spa guests.

Enforce DOH Regulations: Maintain a strict, working knowledge of New York Department of Health (DOH) pool safety codes and regulations, ensuring the facility remains fully compliant at all times.

Maintain Equipment: Conduct regular inspections of all pool and rescue equipment to guarantee everything is up to code, fully operational, and ready for immediate use.

Hazard Prevention: Continuously squeegee and dry the pool deck to prevent slip-and-fall hazards and maintain a pristine, safe environment.

Deliver Exceptional Hospitality: Warmly greet guests upon their arrival to the pool area and promptly attend to their needs, questions, or requests with a high level of customer service.

Collaborate with the Team: Work seamlessly as a unit with fellow lifeguards and spa staff when attending to guests, managing pool operations, or handling emergencies.

Drive Accountability: Foster a responsible team culture by respectfully holding teammates accountable to safety protocols, operational duties, and rotation schedules when needed.

Radiate Positivity: Bring a consistently positive, approachable, and solutions-oriented attitude to every shift.

YOU’RE GOOD AT
- Remembering regular customers’ names and making them feel special
- Being the go-to person for all pool-related matters while on shift
- Being thorough and detailed in taking pool readings and maintaining log
- Ensuring compliance with all pool rules and policies, including reckless behavior
- Staying alert and focused while on shift
- Working independently with minimal supervision
- Working on a team to long and report water quality control and other issues for the next person on shift
REQUIRED
- Active CPR / First Aid / AED certification (*NYC requires CPR annually)
PREFERRED
- Prior experience in lifeguarding
- Certification in technical pool management, maintenance, and servicing (Preferred but not required)
