Lifeguard

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding certifications are required at the time of employment, as well as the ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
- Must be able to think in the abstract, solve problems, make quick decisions, instruct, evaluate, supervise, and recognize the potential for danger or injury.
- The successful Lifeguard must be committed to the Wenatchee Valley YMCA mission - the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and the enhancement of developmental assets in children.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This position performs their work in and around natatoriums.
- Must be able to physically perform program activities and respond to emergencies in and out of the water.
- Must have the ability to frequently stand and sit for extended periods, remain alert under conditions of high heat and humidity, and move safely to various locations, including entering and exiting an elevated chair.
- Must have the ability to see and hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Those who use hearing aids or other corrective devices for hearing or vision should be able to perform all rescue skills and emergency procedures without interruption to adjust or retrieve corrective devices.
