Linux Administrator

Summary

Maintains and optimizes enterprise Linux environments, deploys OpenShift clusters, and automates infrastructure using Ansible/Terraform for a large-scale IT services firm.

We are seeking an experienced Linux Administrator with strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), virtualization technologies, and infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, administering, and optimizing enterprise Linux environments while supporting infrastructure modernization, system migrations, automation initiatives, and high-availability platforms.

The candidate should possess strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with enterprise Linux environments, and the ability to collaborate with application, infrastructure, networking, and database teams to ensure stable and secure operations.

Key Responsibilities

Linux Administration & Operations

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain enterprise Linux environments(RHEL preferred).

• Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for production systems.

• Manage Linux security hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.

• Support user administration, access management, filesystem management, and storage administration.

• Administer LVM, NFS, SFTP, DNS, LDAP, and other infrastructure services.

OpenShift & Platform Engineering

• Support and maintain OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) environments.

• Participate in OpenShift cluster deployment, upgrades, migration, and troubleshooting activities.

• Collaborate with application teams for containerized application deployments and platform optimization.

• Support Kubernetes-based environments and container orchestration initiatives.

Infrastructure & Virtualization

• Support Linux workloads running on VMware and physical server infrastructure.

• Participate in migration projects involving virtualized and bare-metal environments.

• Configure and maintain high-availability solutions and clustering technologies.

• Manage server provisioning, operating system upgrades, and lifecycle management.

Automation & DevOps

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible, Shell Scripting, Terraform, or similar tools.

• Automate recurring operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

• Support Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and DevOps initiatives across the organization.

• Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence programs.

Networking & Security

• Configure and troubleshoot networking components, including TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, firewalls, and routing.

• Implement and maintain security controls based on enterprise standards and industry best practices.

• Support audits, compliance activities, and security assessments.

Documentation & Support

• Develop technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures.

• ProvideL2/L3 support for critical incidents and problem management activities.

• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including application, database, cloud, and infrastructure teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Minimum 5years of experience in Linux Administration.

• Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

• Experience supporting OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) or Kubernetes environments.

• Strong understanding of Linux system architecture, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

• Experience with VMware virtualization platforms.

• Knowledge of storage technologies, LVM, NFS, and clustering solutions.

• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, or Shell scripting.

• Knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing, and firewalls.

• Experience with enterprise monitoring and configuration management tools.

Certifications

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).

• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
