Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Linux BSP Software Engineer to join our R&D team in Bengaluru. The candidate will be responsible for developing, integrating, debugging, and maintaining Linux Board Support Packages (BSPs) for embedded hardware platforms used in IP cameras and other video surveillance products.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with embedded Linux, device drivers, kernel configuration, hardware bring-up, and system-level debugging. Experience with ARM-based SoCs and networking or video surveillance devices will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, customize, integrate, and maintain Linux BSPs for embedded hardware platforms.
  • Perform Linux kernel configuration, compilation, porting, and customization for target hardware.
  • Develop, port, integrate, and debug device drivers for peripherals such as Ethernet, GPIO, IC, SPI, UART, USB, storage, and other hardware interfaces.
  • Work closely with hardware and firmware teams during board bring-up, hardware integration, and platform validation.
  • Analyze kernel logs, boot failures, system crashes, memory issues, and hardware-related problems.
  • Troubleshoot bootloader, kernel, device tree, and root filesystem issues.
  • Optimize system boot time, resource utilization, reliability, and overall embedded Linux performance.
  • Support integration of networking, storage, peripheral, and multimedia components.
  • Maintain system stability through debugging, root-cause analysis, bug fixing, and regression testing.
  • Support product validation, technical documentation, and relevant product certification activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams to resolve hardware and software integration issues.
  • Maintain source code, technical documentation, and software changes using version control systems such as Git.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • Approximately 3 years of hands-on experience in embedded Linux development or BSP engineering.
  • Good knowledge of Linux kernel architecture, boot process, kernel configuration, and device trees.
  • Proficiency in C programming and familiarity with C++.
  • Experience with Linux device driver development, porting, or debugging.
  • Knowledge of ARM-based embedded platforms and hardware interfaces.
  • Experience with Linux shell scripting and common debugging utilities.
  • Familiarity with Git or other source code management tools.
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with IP cameras, NVRs, video surveillance products, or other embedded multimedia devices.
  • Exposure to SoC platforms from Novatek, Ambarella, Hisilicon, SigmaStar, or similar vendors.
  • Familiarity with Ethernet, TCP/IP, embedded networking, and multimedia pipelines.
  • Experience with U-Boot, Buildroot, Yocto, or similar embedded Linux build systems.
  • Knowledge of cross-compilation, memory management, system performance optimization, and hardware debugging.
  • Experience supporting product security, reliability, or certification requirements.
