Linux Engineer
We are seeking a skilled, innovative, and proactive Linux Engineer to join our technical team. In this role, you will be responsible for production up-time, system administration, performance optimization, and rigorous security hardening across Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Solaris environments. You will provide critical 24x7 support to critical production systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure high operational availability within a secure government or regulated (WOG) framework.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, administer, and tune performance on RHEL (7, 8, 9) and Solaris (10/11) servers, ensuring optimal resource utilization and efficiency.
Conduct health checks of physical systems, ensure maximum uptime for critical production environments, and participate in 24x7 support rotations.
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for complex hardware and application problems, formulate and execute plans of action, implement changes, and maintain detailed documentation.
Execute Linux/UNIX security hardening strictly in accordance with CIS guidelines. Manage and ensure the latest OS security patches using Red Hat Satellite knowledge.
Handle storage provisioning/additions and user administration tasks across RHEL and Solaris servers.
Provide support and operational knowledge involving Microsoft Azure, load balancers, firewalls, OS clustering, and virtualization technologies.
Prepare comprehensive evaluations and reports on system efficiency, translating technical issues clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Requirements & Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on professional experience in RHEL and enterprise/WOG environments.
Technical Expertise:
Deep proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9) administration and Red Hat Satellite.
Working knowledge of Solaris (10/11) administration and storage addition.
Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, load balancers, firewalls, OS clustering, and virtualization.
Proven experience with CIS security hardening benchmarks and OS patch management frameworks.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven capability to handle incident communications professionally across diverse audiences.
Prepared to support mission-critical production systems under a 24x7 operational model.
