Linux Infrastructure Engineer
Summary
Linux Infrastructure Engineer responsible for operating, maintaining, and improving Linux-based infrastructure with a focus on stability, performance, automation, and reliability. Core technologies include Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), Ansible, VMware, and infrastructure automation.
We are looking for a Medior/Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join a long-term project supporting a large-scale enterprise IT environment.
In this role, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Linux-based infrastructure, with a strong focus on system stability, performance, automation, and reliability.
You will work primarily with Linux (Ubuntu/Debian), Ansible, VMware, and infrastructure automation, while also supporting containerized environments and participating in incident resolution and infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain Linux-based infrastructure, primarily Ubuntu and Debian
Ensure high availability, stability, security, and performance of infrastructure systems
Automate configuration management, deployments, and system provisioning using Ansible and Infrastructure as Code practices
Support and administer VMware-based virtualized environments
Troubleshoot infrastructure and system issues and drive incidents through resolution
Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive improvements
Support infrastructure changes, upgrades, and system optimization
Work with containerized workloads using Docker and/or Kubernetes
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash and/or Python
Work with monitoring and logging solutions to identify and resolve infrastructure issues
Maintain technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
Requirements
Strong hands-on experience with Linux system administration
Practical experience with Ubuntu, Debian, or similar Linux distributions
Hands-on experience with Ansible for infrastructure and configuration automation
Experience administering VMware environments such as vSphere, ESXi, or vCenter
Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and infrastructure automation practices
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, routing, and firewalls
Experience with Bash and/or Python scripting
Familiarity with Docker and/or Kubernetes
Experience with monitoring and logging tools
Ability to independently investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents
Strong documentation and knowledge-sharing skills
Proactive, self-driven, and team-oriented approach
Good communication and time-management skills
Fluent English
Nice to Have
Experience working in large-scale enterprise infrastructure environments
Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
Advanced Kubernetes experience
Experience with production monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or ELK
German language skills
