Linux Platform Engineer
Summary
Maintains and automates Linux server infrastructure, focusing on RHEL/CentOS/AlmaLinux, VMware ESXi, Ansible, and identity management with LDAP/AD.
Salary: £120,011 - 120,011 per year
Requirements:- Strong commercial Linux administration experience, ideally across RHEL, CentOS, or AlmaLinux
- Experience with patching, kernel tuning, LVM, and filesystem management
- VMware ESXi administration experience
- Knowledge of Foreman for package and repository management
- Experience with Ansible and AWX automation
- Strong networking knowledge including firewalld and iptables
- Identity management experience using LDAP, Active Directory, and SSSD
- Exposure to container technologies, ideally Podman
- Experience supporting enterprise middleware and infrastructure services
- Administer and support enterprise Linux environments
- Manage patching, kernel updates, LVM, and filesystem administration
- Maintain package repositories and lifecycle management through Foreman
- Support VMware ESXi virtual infrastructure, templates, snapshots, and BAU operations
- Configure and manage host networking including firewalld and iptables
- Administer identity services including SSSD, LDAP, and Active Directory integration
- Develop and maintain automation using Ansible and AWX
- Help modernise legacy applications using Podman containers
- Support core platform services including Redis, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, MySQL, Memcache, Postfix, and HAProxy

We are partnering with an Edinburgh-based SaaS business seeking an experienced Linux Platform Engineer to join the infrastructure team. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will help maintain and evolve a large-scale Linux estate supporting business-critical platforms used by thousands of customers across the UK. The role is hybrid with 2 days onsite in Edinburgh and is an inside IR35 contract paying £425-£475 per day. You will work across Linux administration, automation, virtualisation, and modern infrastructure technologies to improve reliability, security, and performance.
