Loader Operator
Summary
Operates heavy machinery to move, sort, and weigh scrap metal in a recycling yard, following safety and quality protocols.
Under the supervision of the Site Manager, the Loader Operator picks up and delivers the trailer for the different departments in the yard as well as any other handling of equipment requiring the use of their machine. They also will weigh various metals as they enter or leave the yard.
Responsibilities:
- Receive metals and deposit to the designated location
- Unload trailer(s) and perform quality control inspection(s)
- Transport containers of non-ferrous material
- Load ferrous products for customers
- Perform hardware identification tests using appropriate magnets or products
- Perform inventory of stock according to established schedule
- General maintenance of equipment
- Any other related tasks requested by the manager
- Minimum 1 year experience in a similiar role
- Class 5 license considered an asset
