Lock and Dam Operator Supervisor

About the Position: This position is located in Smithville, Mississippi. As Lockmaster, the incumbent will supervise a crew of 4-12 subordinates at one or more lock and dam sites. With responsibility for independently planning the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, etc. to accomplish lock and dam operations; establish and assign work guidelines; conduct workforce duties to include review of position descriptions, disciplinary and performance, etc.; and ensure Lock Operations.

Lead Operations workforce and handle emergency situations independently.

Utilize general guidance, policy, regulations, and standard operating procedures for all aspects of lock and dam operators.

Ensure Lock and Dams are operated by authorized personnel.

Oversight for Lock and Dam to ensure safety of the the public.

Ensure use of government property are maintained and utilized with safe practices.

Establish deadlines, workloads, and safety procedures for personnel.

Provide preventative maintenance orders and working procedures.

Establish guidelines and assign work to personnel using both verbal and written instructions.

Keep personnel informed of new procedures and training requirements.

Investigate work related problems to determine causes, and independently implement corrective action.

Implement training for personnel on overall operational activities.
