Lodge Manager – Luxury Safari Camp, Kenya

Location: Kenya, East Africa
Salary: US$4,500 net per month
Couple Package: US$3,000 net per person per month

Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced and confident Lodge Manager to oversee the operations of a remote luxury safari camp in Kenya. The property accommodates a small number of guests and employs a sizeable team, requiring a hands-on leader who can balance exceptional guest experiences with effective staff management and operational excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity for a strong hospitality professional who is comfortable working in an isolated environment and leading an established team with professionalism, patience and confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the camp, ensuring consistently high standards of service and guest satisfaction.

  • Lead, manage and motivate a large team, promoting accountability, teamwork and professional development.

  • Build positive working relationships with staff while implementing operational standards and procedures.

  • Manage guest relations, ensuring personalised service and the effective resolution of concerns.

  • Work closely with all departments to maintain smooth and efficient operations.

  • Monitor staff performance and address operational challenges with fairness, consistency and confidence.

  • Ensure that housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance and general camp operations meet luxury hospitality standards.

  • Manage stock, resources and operational costs effectively.

  • Maintain clear communication with senior management and provide regular operational updates.

  • Adapt to the challenges of managing a remote property with limited external support.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in lodge management or a senior management position within a luxury safari lodge, remote camp or comparable hospitality property.

  • Strong staff-management skills, ideally with experience leading large teams.

  • Confident, articulate and professional communication skills.

  • A kind but direct leadership style, with the ability to manage established teams without being unnecessarily forceful.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • Strong organisational, administrative and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a remote environment.

  • Resilience, adaptability and a hands-on approach to daily operations.

  • Previous experience in East Africa or a similarly isolated safari destination will be advantageous.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will be a mature, well-spoken and self-assured hospitality professional who can earn the respect of an established team through consistency, fairness and strong leadership. They must be comfortable being the sole expatriate on the property and understand the responsibilities associated with managing a remote camp.

Applications from a management couple will also be considered, with a package of US$3,000 net per person per month.

How to Apply:

Interested candidates who meet the requirements are invited to submit their CV to Kendrick Recruitment for consideration.
