LOGISTICS/3PL TRANSPORTATION MANAGER II
Responsible for providing oversight and coordinating the efficient, cost-effective transport of product from distribution warehouses with complex/multiple third party transportation operations to retail stores in a multi-state region. Serve as site contact/liaison with outside carriers on all transportation activities which includes P&L responsibilities. - Oversee the delivery of product from distribution centers with complex/multiple third party transportation operations to stores in the most cost-effective manner and ensure 3PL carrier achieves precise delivery times
- Communicate with external carriers to resolve issues and review all operations activities which include but not limited to, managing tractor/trailer equipment to optimal efficiency, driver staffing, daily route plans, on-time delivery/pickup status, 3PL contract compliance
- Identify, manage, and communicate daily backhaul plans and exceptions to the Kroger Transportation Center (KTC) along with identifying possible new backhaul lanes
- Assist financial analyst with analyzing report data to measure and improve transportation performance, budget, expenses invoices
- Perform carrier / vendor invoicing audits
- Coordinate with maintenance team to ensure Original Equipment Manufacturer preventative maintenance standards are met and ensure repairs to equipment are timely
- Collaborate with account managers, divisions, (KTC), and DCs in the oversight of right-sizing deliveries and pickups to/from our stores along with resolving any day-to-day opportunities
- Collaborate with divisions, KTC, DCs, MFG plants, and 3PL carrier(s) to develop normal and holiday/promotional delivery schedules
- Respond to emergency and changing situations to guarantee deliveries/pickups from our customers which may include off-hours and holidays
- Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports

MINIMUM
- Associate Degree in business related field or equivalent in work experience
- 4+ years of experience in transportation and logistics
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail and ability to draw conclusions
- Ability to work within strict time frames/resolute deadlines
- Self-directed, ability to execute projects with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and peers
- Detail-oriented and data driven
DESIRED
- Bachelor's Degree in business/supply chain
- Any supervisory/managerial experience within a distribution/logistics environment
- Any experience within a food distribution environment
- Expertise in shipping, receiving and inventory management and transportation
- Knowledge/understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and requirements
