Logistics Analyst
Summary
A logistics analyst at a refractories manufacturer in Columbus, OH handling day-to-day domestic and international shipping: quoting and booking shipments, auditing freight bills, tracking in-transit freight, and ensuring customs compliance. Core tools include Excel for analysis, with SAP/ERP and TMS experience preferred.
- Monitor import shipments to ensure compliance with all CBP requirements and ensure that shipments move to final destination seamlessly without unnecessary delay or cost.
- Support sales and customer service by providing domestic and international freight quotes as requested.
- Audit and approve freight invoices, using data from these invoices to drive improvements in internal processes and carrier selection.
- Support TMS selection and implementation
- Develop innovative approaches to logistics within the context of Allied’s corporate strategies, marketing/business plans, sales materials sourcing needs.
- Use of existing data and metrics, as well as the development of new ones, to identify areas of opportunity and drive change.
- Continuous improvement of Allied’s global logistics network.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing or related discipline, or equivalent experience required.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years’ work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a freight forwarding environment a plus.
- Familiarity with US import processes, customs brokerage processes, and domestic transportation.
- Experience in working with carriers in all modes of transportation a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication, along with solid interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical skills, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with and implementing a TMS is preferred.
- Prior experience with SAP or similar ERP system a plus.
- Must be self-motivated, a team player and have strong attention to detail.
