Logistics Coordinator
OVERVIEW
The Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in warehouse and shipping operations. This position is responsible for managing daily logistics, coordinating the preparation and delivery of orders, and ensuring timely, accurate shipments. The role also supports inventory control, warehouse documentation, and interdepartmental coordination under the guidance of the Warehouse Operations Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily warehouse logistics and shipping activities in alignment with the Warehouse Operations Manager.
- Monitor and support order preparation, packing, and shipping processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Organize truck loading operations and verify compliance with DOT regulations; assist with use of forklifts and hoist systems when necessary.
- Generate and manage all documentation for outgoing shipments, including pick tickets, invoices, shipping labels, and delivery documents.
- Address shipping discrepancies by working directly with sales team to resolve issues related to damage, shortages, or incorrect specifications.
- Verify release of merchandise only after payment terms are confirmed with Accounts Receivable.
- Process and follow up on Warehouse Material Requests (Show Me forms) and customer returns/credits according to company procedures.
- Plan and assign delivery routes using Stone Profits software; assist remote locations with routing and inter-location stock transfers as needed.
- Support receiving and staging operations in the Tile and Slab areas, as required.
- Assist Sales with customer service support such as processing order corrections or preparing customer pickups.
- Monitor warehouse supply inventory and coordinate ordering of materials like pallets and packing supplies.
- Schedule waste container pickups as needed.
- Complete required training and certifications for warehouse equipment operations.
- Promote and enforce compliance with all company safety policies and operational procedures.
- Assist in coordinating regular safety meetings and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Maintain clear communication with management regarding workflow, operational issues, and project updates.
- Serve as backup to Warehouse Area Supervisors and Associates when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in logistics, business, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 3–5 years in shipping/logistics, preferably in tile or stone industry environments.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
- Proficient in MS Office and logistics software (e.g., Stone Profits)
- Ability to lead, train, and motivate team members
- Familiarity with warehouse operations, inventory systems, and safety protocols
- Certified forklift operator (or ability to obtain certification)
Work Environment
- Operates in warehouse and office settings.
- Frequently exposed to loud noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Uses computers, standard office equipment, forklifts, and overhead hoists.
- Regular interactions with internal teams, customers, vendors, and transportation companies.
Physical Demands
This role requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. The Logistics Coordinator must be able to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 100 pounds. The position also involves operating warehouse machinery such as forklifts and overhead hoists. Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use may be required when handling documentation or routing tasks. Use of safety gear, such as gloves, steel-toed shoes, and other protective equipment is mandatory in designated work areas.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with a standard workweek that includes Saturday hours. Flexibility is required, as extended hours or overtime may be necessary to meet operational deadlines, address unusual workloads, or respond to urgent business needs.
