Job description

Now, you've got the opportunity to join them.
Delivering globally.
Dispatching each shipment with care.
Seeing your impact go further.
It all matters.
Support the teams of couriers and messengers that keep the UK safe and secure
When you join us in this important role you’ll take the lead on the day-to-day organisation of our London Car Service, managing and processing bookings and requests, allocating drivers and vehicles, and working with the finance team to ensure that timings are recorded accurately. Taking responsibility for you and your team’s training and development, and defining roles, recruiting suitable personnel, managing performance and coaching your less experienced colleagues, whilst responding efficiently, discreetly and professionally to all the communications you receive.
Prioritising, annotating, flagging and forwarding correspondence that comes into the office, and responding quickly to your customers’ requests, you’ll ensure scheduled maintenance work is carried out to the fleet’s vehicles, daily check sheets are completed, and ad hoc work is handled correctly. We’ll also expect you to make sure the members of your team keep their professional qualifications up to date, maintain productive relationships with all the stakeholders you work with, and hold regular team meetings to address any issues that impact on you and your colleagues’ responsibilities.
Use all your skills of discretion and diplomacy as you support our global mission
To be a success in this significant and busy role you must be highly organised, possess strong line management experience within a time critical and high-pressure environment, and be a clear and confident communicator. With well developed judgement, tact and diplomatic skills, and able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality, you should also be capable of maintaining the confidence of your colleagues at all levels of our organisation. It’s important that you have previous experience of fleet resource scheduling and the planning skills to maximise utilisation, while an understanding of London and the UK’s road network, and airside and freight forwarding operations would be desirable.
It goes without saying that excellent customer service and team leadership skills area essential, and if you don’t already hold it, you must be prepared to gain DV level security clearance. A highly proficient user of Microsoft Office and SharePoint, you’ll be at an advantage if you hold Lean Six-Sigma Yellow Belt certification and possess some knowledge and understanding of the structure and key personnel within FCDO and FCDO Services. Candidates should also be aware that while working with Ministerial Private Offices, the King’s Messengers and a number of other high profile customers, we’ll expect you to be available for out of hours calls and requests.
Discover the support you need to grow your career further
But we’re always looking to improve – just like you. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.
