Summary
Lead financial planning, budgeting, and performance analysis for a mining operation, overseeing cost control, reporting, and governance while managing a team in Liberia.
- Financial Planning and Budgeting
- Lead the annual budgeting and long-term planning process.
- Coordinate budget preparation across all departments and business units.
- Monitor budget performance and provide timely variance analysis.
- Ensure alignment of business plans with organizational objectives.
- Management Reporting and Performance Analysis
- Develop and maintain management reporting frameworks and dashboards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reports.
- Analyze financial and operational performance indicators.
- Provide recommendations to improve efficiency, profitability, and cost effectiveness.
- Cost Control and Financial Governance
- Establish robust cost monitoring and control mechanisms.
- Review expenditure trends and ensure compliance with approved budgets.
- Support business units in identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Strengthen financial discipline and governance across the organization.
- Forecasting and Business Support
- Lead periodic forecasting exercises and financial outlook reviews.
- Support operational and strategic decision-making through financial modeling and analysis.
- Evaluate business cases, investment proposals, and capital expenditure requests.
- Provide financial advice to senior leadership and business stakeholders.
- Internal Controls and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with AML financial policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Support internal and external audit activities.

- Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge
- Education
- Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) is required.
- Master's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline is advantageous.
- Experience
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Finance, Controlling, or Financial Management.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience within mining, heavy industry, manufacturing, or large multinational organizations is preferred.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and performance management.

Working Conditions
- The position is primarily office-based, with regular interaction across AML sites, including Monrovia, Buchanan, Yekepa, and Greenhill.
- Frequent travel between operational locations may be required to support business activities, financial reviews, and stakeholder engagement.
- The role requires occasional extended working hours during budgeting cycles, month-end and year-end closing periods, forecasting exercises, audits, and other critical business deadlines.
- The incumbent will work closely with senior management, operational leaders, and external stakeholders in a fast-paced and dynamic mining environment.
- Exposure to operational and mining environments may be required, with adherence to all AML Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.
- The position demands a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity in handling sensitive financial and business information.
Health and Safety
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Participate in health, safety and environment training programs to understand potential hazards, safety procedures, and emergency protocols.
- Report any health, safety and environmental concerns, incidents, or near misses promptly to the designated supervisor or safety officer.
- Assist in identifying workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments to minimize risks to personal health and safety.
- Wear appropriate PPE as required for specific tasks or environments and ensure that it is maintained and used correctly.
- Be familiar with emergency response procedures, including evacuation routes, assembly points, and first aid protocols.
- Follow established safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, or illnesses.
- Operate machinery, tools, and equipment safely, following manufacturer's instructions and the AML safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to reduce hazards and prevent accidents.
- Promote a culture of health and safety awareness among coworkers by encouraging safe behaviors and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Participate in health and safety committees or meetings as required, providing input and suggestions for improving workplace safety.
- Keep accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities as required by company policy and regulations.
Environment
- Oversee and monitor the environmental performance of your department's functions, ensuring high levels of awareness and compliance with company environmental policies and relevant environmental laws.
- Regularly review environmental performance metrics and indicators to track progress, identify trends, and address areas for improvement.
- Ensure all environmental incidents are reported promptly and investigated thoroughly in line with company policies and legal requirements.
- Uphold a culture of environmental responsibility and compliance within the organization by setting clear expectations for incident reporting and response at all levels.
- Collaborate with the Environment team to identify opportunities for environmental improvement and develop strategic programs to enhance sustainability practices.
