Lumber Yard Laborer

Responsibilities

• Receiving/Put-Away: Unload inbound shipments safely and move lumber to storage locations.

• Efficiently and safely stack and store the lumber in the appropriate areas.

• Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.

• Order Picking: Pull and prepare lumber for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type / species of lumber is loaded and delivered, whether to the Mill, Kiln, Stacker, Vision Talley, or wherever directed by the order instructions or your supervisor.

• Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.

• Keep scrap bins empty so Helpers can keep the Mill and Yard clean.

• Loading: Efficiently move lumber from staging and/or storage areas onto trucks or trailers.

• Equipment: Load, unload, move, stack, and stage lumber and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment.

• Use hand-held equipment for inventory, picking, receiving, put-away, and load functions, as required.

• Maintain the Company’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.

• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.

• Inventory: Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.

• Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.

• Some heavy lifting is required.
