Location: Remote – Nationwide
Employment Type: Independent Contractor / 1099
Compensation: $100–$125 per hour
A rapidly growing, multi-location service organization is seeking a hands-on M&A Integration Manager to lead newly acquired businesses through integration and stabilization. This is an independent 1099 consulting engagement expected to last approximately 6–12 months, with potential for extension. The role is primarily remote, with travel as acquisition activity requires. The initial workload is expected to average approximately 20 hours per week but may increase significantly around acquisition closings, Day 1, and major implementation milestones.
This is not simply a project-tracking role. The consultant must be able to establish ownership, anticipate risks, drive decisions, and hold cross-functional leaders accountable without direct authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead post-acquisition integration from Day 1 planning through stabilization.
- Build and manage integration plans, workstreams, milestones, owners, and dependencies.
- Coordinate execution across Operations, Finance, HR, IT, Sales, Compliance, Procurement, Fleet, Facilities, and other functions.
- Assess acquired-company processes and help determine what should be retained, standardized, modified, or replaced.
- Coordinate ERP, CRM, field-service, payroll, data-migration, and system-cutover activities.
- Identify risks, escalate roadblocks, and provide clear executive-level progress reporting.
- Support employee communication and change management.
- Improve the organization’s integration playbook while actively executing integrations.
Qualifications
- Experience personally leading at least one post-acquisition or post-merger integration.
- Strong cross-functional program, integration, or business-transformation leadership.
- Ability to drive accountability and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience converting broad objectives into detailed, executable plans.
- Experience with enterprise-system implementations or migrations.
- Strong executive communication and operational judgment.
- Willingness to work fluctuating hours and travel as acquisition activity dictates.
- Ability to work as an independent 1099 consultant.
Experience with decentralized, multi-location, field-service, technician-based, specialty-contracting, facilities-services, industrial-services, fire-protection, or life-safety organizations is preferred.
Travel may include Arizona, California, and Texas and could be intensive immediately surrounding an acquisition. Travel expenses are reimbursed separately.
