FXE-MEISA: Technology Services SpecialistPosition Summary:
Connect Your Potential to Our Possibilities
At FedEx, we connect people and possibilities across the globe. As a Technology Services Specialist, you won’t just be fixing systems—you’ll be enabling seamless logistics, supporting critical operations, and driving digital transformation across the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) market.
Based in Cape Town and operating as a key autonomous link for our Johannesburg-based IT leadership team, you will serve as the hands-on and remote technical authority for FedEx operations staff, external customers, and third-party partner organizations.
What You’ll Do
In this dynamic, high-impact role, you will manage, maintain, and troubleshoot the hardware, software, and network infrastructure that keeps our regional supply chain moving.
Key Responsibilities:
Field & Remote IT Support: Provide remote, on-site, and depot technical support across electronic technologies, network infrastructure, and deployed software applications for FedEx operations, regional customers, and vendors.
Problem Isolation & Diagnostics: Perform end-to-end technical problem resolution, isolating complex hardware, software, component, and network issues across local and remote SSA sites.
Process & System Improvement: Apply specialist technical knowledge to execute and review cross-departmental procedures, ensuring alignment with divisional and global corporate goals.
Design & Implementation: Participate in—and occasionally lead—the design, testing, and deployment of new technology processes and infrastructure enhancements within your domain.
Autonomous Operations: Act as the trusted technical anchor in Cape Town, managing site visits, remote troubleshooting, and vendor coordination independently while keeping in close sync with the Johannesburg team.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a proactive self-starter who thrives when working independently, possesses strong technical intuition, and communicates effectively across distance and diverse teams.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in Field IT, Infrastructure Support, Network Diagnostics, or Technical Customer Support.
Proven track record of supporting deployed hardware, enterprise applications, and network components both remotely and on-site.
Willingness and ability to work autonomously in Cape Town while supporting remote environments across the SSA region.
Core Competencies:
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Sharp diagnostic ability to trace, isolate, and resolve root-cause technical issues efficiently.
Judgement & Decision-Making: Sound technical and operational decision-making under pressure to minimize downtime.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Clear, empathetic communication when supporting field staff, remote users, and key clients.
Influencing & Persuasion Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, guide third-party vendors, and champion best practices remotely.
Why FedEx?
Empowerment & Autonomy: Drive results independently with the trust and backing of a world-class global organization.
Regional Impact: Play a direct role in keeping trade and logistics moving reliably across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Growth & Innovation: Access continuous learning, specialist process exposure, and career development within FedEx Global IT.
People First Culture: Work in a supportive environment that values safety, integrity, innovation, and teamwork—no matter where your seat is located.
