8-month contract role in Colombo developing and deploying machine learning models for financial and taxation applications. Day-to-day involves data preparation, training and optimizing models in SAS Viya and Python, building ML pipelines, and supporting deployment and monitoring.
- Develop and implement machine learning models for financial and taxation applications
- Collect, clean, preprocess, and transform structured financial datasets for modeling
- Train, evaluate, and optimize ML models using SAS Viya and Python-based libraries
- Assist in building and maintaining ML pipelines and workflows
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and insights
- Support model deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML models into production systems
- Maintain clean, well-documented, and testable code
- Follow ML engineering, data governance, and compliance best practices
- Continuously learn and apply new ML techniques relevant to financial analytics
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning or applied data science
- Experience or exposure to financial, taxation, or accounting-related data
- Hands-on experience with SAS Viya
- Proficiency in Python and ML libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn
- Understanding of core machine learning concepts, model evaluation, and feature engineering
- Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Basic understanding of ML deployment and MLOps concepts is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
