Machine Technician – Test Development Engineering (On site)
Job Responsibilities:
As a Manufacturing Test Equipment Technician, we expect the successful candidate to perform the following while demonstrating strong technical aptitude, initiative, and a commitment to support manufacturing operations:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and refurbish manufacturing test equipment and production support hardware used throughout global manufacturing operations.
- Respond to equipment failures in a timely manner to minimize manufacturing downtime and ensure production readiness.
- Assemble, configure, and deploy manufacturing test equipment from engineering documentation and work instructions.
- Perform routine inspections and audits of manufacturing equipment to verify functionality, identify issues, and coordinate repair or replacement activities.
- Support equipment calibration programs by maintaining calibration equipment, verifying compliance records, and ensuring measurement systems remain in specification.
- Maintain inventory of manufacturing equipment, spare parts, consumables, and critical replacement components while coordinating procurement with approved suppliers.
- Operate and maintain rapid prototyping equipment, including 3D printers, to produce components supporting manufacturing test equipment.
- Document equipment repairs, maintenance activities, calibration records, and equipment history to support traceability and continuous improvement.
- Analyze equipment failures, identify recurring issues, and support root cause investigations to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Train manufacturing personnel on the proper operation, maintenance, and handling of production equipment and fixtures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve equipment design, maintenance processes, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Conduct reliability testing, including aging, life cycle, environmental, and ISTA-3A tests according to established procedures.
- Set up, operate, and monitor reliability test equipment such as temperature and humidity chambers, vibration testers, drop testers, and salt spray chambers.
- Perform measurements and execute tests using laboratory equipment such as the Keyence Smart Scope and other inspection tools.
- Support failure analysis activities by collecting test data, documenting observations, and assisting engineers in root cause investigations.
- Coordinate test sample preparation, tracking, and follow-up to ensure timely test execution and completion.
- Carry out preventive maintenance, calibration checks, and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment to ensure proper operation.
Required Qualification & Experience:
- Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Technology, Electronics Technology, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Technology, or related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of experience supporting manufacturing equipment, automated equipment, or electromechanical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience assembling, maintaining, and troubleshooting technical equipment.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, assembly documentation, and technical work instructions.
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience using common measurement tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter capable of working independently while building strong cross-functional relationships
Preferred:
- Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments.
- Experience with calibration systems, measurement equipment, or quality inspection tools.
- Experience with root cause analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience operating or maintaining 3D printing equipment.
- Experience with CAD software and interpreting mechanical drawings.
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and equipment calibration practices.
- Experience managing inventory, spare parts, and supplier relationships.
- Basic understanding of automation, sensors, pneumatic systems, and electromechanical assemblies.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
