Machinist Toolmaker - VKP
Summary
A skilled machinist operates manual and CNC milling machines, lathes, and surface grinders to fabricate and maintain tooling. The role involves reading blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling and metallurgy, performing precision inspections with calipers and micrometers, and maintaining cutting tools for mold builds and repairs.
RESPONSIBLITIES:

Sets-up and operates milling machines (both manual & CNC machines), lathes (both manual & CNC machines), surface grinders, and other related tool room equipment.

Determines proper tooling and cutters for each task.

Understands metallurgy including differentiating between materials, understanding the material’s characteristics, and determining proper feeds and speeds.

Reads and understands blueprints.

Uses various inspection tools including but not limited to: calipers, micrometers, and indicators.

Keeps shop clean and orderly.

Inspects and calibrates tools.
-
Sharpens tools.
-
Maintains cutting tools in good working order.

Assists in specifying parts and materials needed for repairs and new mold builds.

Informs management of print, part, or machining errors.

Follows Safety rules.
-
Performs other duties as assigned.
