macOS DevOps / Founding Engineer

About the Role
This is a founding-team opportunity to join the macOS DevOps function at an early-stage AI messaging infrastructure startup, working on-site in San Francisco. You'll build, operate, and scale macOS data center infrastructure that powers production AI agent workflows — keeping developer pipelines and production systems highly reliable and performant.
What You'll Do
Maintain and operate macOS data center infrastructure at scale.
Build and continuously improve automation, deployment, and monitoring systems.
Develop automation tooling using Swift and shell scripting (bash/zsh).
Manage CI/CD pipelines and developer infrastructure end-to-end.
Ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability across production environments.
Troubleshoot and resolve systems and infrastructure issues under production conditions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to support development and production workflows.
Drive continuous improvement in DevOps practices and operational excellence.
What We're Looking For
Demonstrated experience in macOS DevOps, building and delivering production macOS data center infrastructure (roughly 3–10 years of relevant experience).
Strong proficiency in Swift — this is a hard requirement.
Solid experience with shell scripting (bash/zsh) and infrastructure automation.
Deep knowledge of DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, deployment, and infrastructure management.
macOS systems administration at scale — installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Strong systems-level debugging and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with Linux environments and tooling.
Understanding of networking concepts, system performance tuning, and reliability engineering.
Bonus: experience managing macOS fleets or data center environments, familiarity with MDM tools (e.g., Jamf), knowledge of low-level macOS internals or system frameworks, or experience with Rust or Objective-C.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $150,000 – $200,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Location
On-site in San Francisco, California, United States. Remote candidates will not be considered for this position.
