Our client, a leading global multi strategy hedge fund, is looking for an AI Engineer in London to build and embed production-grade AI solutions across its Macro and Fixed Income investment business. Sitting within a specialist AI enablement team, the role works directly with portfolio managers, analysts, researchers and trading desks, while partnering with central AI and Data Science teams to turn investment requirements into scalable products. The position exists to close the gap between advanced AI capabilities and practical front-office adoption, improving how investment teams analyse markets, price risk and make decisions across rates, credit and FX.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with Macro and Fixed Income investment teams to identify high-value opportunities for AI, automation and advanced analytics.
- Build and deploy production-grade LLM, agentic AI and data-driven applications for investment research, pricing, risk and trading workflows.
- Translate requirements from portfolio managers, analysts and traders into robust technical products that can be iterated quickly and scaled.
- Drive adoption through practical demonstrations, on-desk collaboration, user education and ongoing product support.
- Capture feedback from investment users, evaluate emerging AI techniques and influence the development of the wider internal AI platform.
Requirements
- Must have experience supporting front-office users of Macro or Fixed Income markets, including areas such as rates, credit, FX, market data, pricing or investment research.
- 2+ years of professional software engineering, quantitative development or applied AI experience,
- Strong Python engineering skills and experience taking AI or machine learning applications from concept through to production.
- Practical exposure to LLM applications, RAG, AI agents, evaluation, monitoring or model integration within controlled production environments.
- Strong stakeholder skills, commercial awareness and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and investment professionals.
This is an opportunity for an engineer who wants their work used directly by sophisticated investment professionals rather than sitting several layers away from the business. You will own meaningful problems from initial conversation through to production, gain day-to-day exposure to Macro and Fixed Income decision-making, and help shape how a major investment platform applies generative AI across the front office. The role offers a strong progression path for someone combining high-quality engineering with product judgement, stakeholder confidence and an interest in financial markets.
