Mail and File Assistant

This vacancy is for a GS-0305-6, Mail and File Assistant located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, TRACEN CAPE MAY COMPTROLLER BRANCH in CAPE MAY, New Jersey.

You will serve as a Mail and File Assistant and be responsible for providing technical and administrative direction over the mail service, postal inspections, postal training, correspondence and the mail distribution for all activities, and dispatch of all outgoing official mail. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Plans, coordinates, and oversees postal operations to ensure compliance and USPS, USCG, DHS, GSA, and federal regulations. Manages all official mail services, including incoming and outgoing mail, accountable mail courier, and express mail operations. Analyzes mail operations, prepares reports, monitors costs, and implements process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce expenses. Serves as the primary liaison with the U.S. Postal Service, providing guidance on postal regulations, policies, and service agreements. Operates government vehicles up to 1 1/2 tons to support the timely collection, transportation, and delivery of official mail.
