Mail Sorting Systems Engineer
NewBe an early applicant- Operate, monitor and maintain automated mail and parcel sorting equipment to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to equipment faults to minimise operational downtime.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control system issues across sorting machinery and associated equipment.
- Maintain parcel locker networks and supporting infrastructure across the island.
- Update and support sorting systems, including software, calibration and operational configurations.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with health and safety legislation, electrical standards and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, fault logs and equipment documentation.
- Provide technical support and training to operational teams and machine users.
- Liaise with equipment manufacturers, contractors and suppliers to support repairs, upgrades and ongoing maintenance.
- Identify and recommend improvements to equipment reliability, maintenance processes and operational performance.
- Participate in out-of-hours breakdown support and assist with wider engineering and facilities tasks as required.
- Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Installation or equivalent), or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience maintaining, repairing and fault-finding on industrial or automated machinery.
- Knowledge of PLCs, motors, sensors, control panels and electrical systems.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across electrical, mechanical and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and equipment manuals.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, managers and external contractors.
- Commitment to safe working practices and the ability to work in a production environment.
- Full, valid driving licence.
