Description

Main Street & The Farm On-Air Host

KELO - 107.9 FM | Where South Dakota businesses and agriculture meet.

From our small businesses to the farmers and ranchers feeding our communities, South Dakota’s economy is built by people with stories worth tuning in for. Main Street & The Farm is a brand-new two-hour program on KELO Radio dedicated to sharing those stories, exploring local economic issues, and connecting listeners with the people shaping our state. We are looking for someone who can help shape this show’s future in Sioux Falls!

What You’ll Love Doing:
  • Host a live, two-hour morning program in Sioux Falls featuring in-depth conversations with local business owners, farmers, ranchers, and community leaders.
  • Lead engaging interviews that help listeners understand local businesses, agriculture, markets, policy, and the economic issues affecting their communities.
  • Connect with Chambers of Commerce, South Dakota Farm Bureau representatives, agricultural organizations, and other local and state industry leaders to develop a strong network of guests.
  • Prepare interview questions, talking points, and background information for upcoming programs.
  • Coordinate occasional field interviews and remote broadcasts that bring listeners closer to the people and businesses making a difference.
  • Monitor listener feedback, community interests, and emerging topics to help guide future programming.
  • Identify and develop new advertising opportunities that connect businesses with KELO Radio’s audience.
  • Work with the Director of Sales to develop advertiser campaigns, grow revenue, and help expand Main Street & The Farm over time.
What We’re Looking For:
  • A confident, natural communicator with a genuine interest in South Dakota’s local economy and agriculture.
  • Someone who has experience (or strong demonstrated interest) in hosting live radio and is comfortable drawing out compelling stories from a variety of guests. Interviewing and interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
  • Prior sales experience and comfort with developing advertising opportunities is a plus.
  • A valid South Dakota driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass background and motor vehicle checks.
  • Reliability, professionalism, and a collaborative approach to representing the station.
  • The ideal candidate would have an interest in telling local businesses’ stories while also wanting to grow revenue for the show to aid in its expansion in the future.
