Mainframe Network Engineer

Summary

Mainframe Network Engineer configuring and administering IBM z/OS mainframe network software, providing technical support and on-call coverage, monitoring performance, and contributing to projects on a hybrid basis in London.

Salary: £91,000 - 91,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Experienced technician with basic skills in most and more advanced skills in some of the following: TCP/IP and associated products/protocols
  • SNA, VTAM, APPN/Enterprise Extender
  • Connect Direct and other file transfer products
  • Session Management products e.g. TPX, Teleview, CL/Supersession
  • Network Management products e.g. NETVIEW, Netmaster/TCPIP
  • Print server products e.g. VPS
  • Must be a self-starter and a completer/finisher who ensures tasks and projects are fully completed with the necessary documentation updates
  • Well organized and able to keep multiple activities in progress in parallel, balancing priorities as necessary, particularly between support and project work
  • Ability to communicate clearly at all levels while working independently or as part of a team
  • Strong English language skills
Responsibilities:
  • Configuration and administration of IBM z/OS mainframe network software
  • Configuration and administration of network-related 3rd party system software
  • Provide technical support for Mainframe Networking issues during the normal working day and out-of-hours on-call support
  • Act as a Mainframe Networking resource for internal and external projects
  • Monitor the performance of mainframe networking components and instigate remedial action
  • Produce clear technical documentation as appropriate
  • Comply with all local, regional, global and regulatory policies, processes and procedures
