Maintenance Engineer – Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and oversee planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and corrective/unplanned maintenance activities for electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Monitor the condition and performance of machines and equipment to identify potential failures and minimize unexpected breakdowns and operational downtime.
- Lead troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and repair activities for electrical, mechanical, and control system issues.
- Participate in new machinery installation, commissioning, testing, and production transfer projects, ensuring proper maintenance requirements and technical standards are established from the beginning.
- Take an active role in machine construction, modification, overhaul, refurbishment, and revision activities.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, technical procedures, and maintenance standards for all assigned equipment.
- Analyze recurring equipment failures and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to identify corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
- Lead problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving equipment reliability, efficiency, safety, and maintenance performance.
- Coordinate with Production and other operational departments to plan maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to operations.
- Manage and maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, work orders, breakdown reports, and technical documentation.
- Support the development and implementation of maintenance KPIs, including equipment availability, downtime, breakdown frequency, preventive maintenance completion, and maintenance response time.
- Manage spare parts and maintenance materials, including stock monitoring, critical spare identification, minimum stock levels, and timely replenishment.
- Review technical specifications and support the selection and procurement of spare parts, tools, equipment, and maintenance services.
- Coordinate and supervise external contractors and service providers during specialized maintenance, inspections, repairs, and equipment servicing.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, electrical systems, and mechanical installations to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Assist in preparing maintenance budgets, annual maintenance plans, and equipment replacement or capital expenditure proposals.
- Review equipment manuals, technical drawings, electrical diagrams, and manufacturer recommendations to ensure proper maintenance and repair practices.
- Support the implementation and improvement of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and ensure maintenance data is accurately recorded and updated.
- Train, guide, and support maintenance technicians and team members in proper troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and safe working practices.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are properly documented and completed within the required timeframe.
- Participate in equipment performance reviews, reliability improvement programs, and energy-efficiency initiatives.
- Maintain an adequate level of technical readiness to respond to urgent breakdowns and critical equipment failures.
- Recommend technical improvements, equipment upgrades, and process modifications to enhance reliability, productivity, energy efficiency, and operational performance.
- Perform any other maintenance and engineering responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance engineering.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems.
- Experience in preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience with PPM, CMMS, and maintenance planning.
- Knowledge of spare parts management and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to read technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Good knowledge of HSE and maintenance safety procedures.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance systems.
- Good command of English; Arabic is an advantage.
