Maintenance & Facilities Manager

Position Summary

The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is responsible for all aspects of maintenance, installation, and construction of the plant facility, including all production equipment, buildings, grounds, and utilities, in concert with the established objectives and goals of MACtac.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, developing, and supervising maintenance programs and procedures for efficient operation of plant/production facility. Scope includes: machine installation, repair, demolition, grounds keeping and may include capital projects.
  • Deploying proven maintenance programs, including but not limited to: preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, condition-based maintenance, reliability engineering, and total productive maintenance.
  • Deploying principles of effective maintenance management to include: problem recognition, root cause analysis, and strong statistical analysis of cause and effect.
  • Utilizing CMMS system to manage departmental workflow.
  • Supporting all facility functions that impact quality, cost, safety, delivery, and morale.
  • Acting as a change agent, leading workforce to meet facility and corporate objectives.
  • Involvement in failure mode analysis events and programs.
  • Demonstrating a strong presence on the plant floor by setting, communicating, and evaluating standards and serving as a resource to all employees.
  • Perpetuates a culture of continuous improvement through TQM, Six Sigma, and Lean principles and methodologies.
  • Must demonstrate project management skills in the areas of proposal development, project planning, execution, and desired vs. actual outcomes.
  • Must possess strong statistical analysis skills.
  • Directing the purchase, organization, processes, and preparation of critical maintenance spare parts to ensure timely machine repair and to support Preventative Maintenance tasks.
  • Developing strong working relationship with maintenance, technical, operations, and corporate level resources.
  • Supervising, motivating, coaching, and instilling good leadership skills in the maintenance staff.
  • Establishes a strong presence on the floor to set and communicate expectations and standards.
  • Evaluates and communicates results so all employees understand expected performance levels.
  • Administering and reporting compliance with environmental and safety compliance.
  • Administering inspection programs and associated compliance requirements for insurance on plant boilers, air compressors, sprinkler systems, fire protection equipment, etc. while complying with all environmental mandates.
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA safety requirements.
  • Managing grounds keeping contracts and providing direction to contractors on ensure expected performance is routinely carried out.
  • Handling all services for lawncare, pest control, snow removal, etc.
  • Maintaining the facility security and fire systems, including coordination and communication with security system contractors and local fire and police departments. Acts as primary contact for facility alarming during and after business hours.
  • Performing other duties as assigned, travel and regular attendance are required.

Qualifications:

  • Four year degree in an engineering discipline
  • Lean/ Six Sigma Training preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of five years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment are required.
  • There is direct responsibility for major assets and operations as related to the maintenance and engineering support for efficient equipment operations. Plans, develops, and supervises maintenance programs and procedures for efficient operation of plant/production facility. Scope includes: capital projects, machine installation, repair, demolition, and grounds keeping.
  • Deploying proven maintenance programs, including but not limited to: preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, condition-based maintenance, reliability engineering, and total productive maintenance.
  • Knowledge and experience with various CMMS systems and ERPs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal forms, with people of various educational and technical backgrounds, inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to creatively solve problems and facilitate others to do the same. Must demonstrate annual operational and profit improvements.
  • Ability to perform Root Cause Problem Solving techniques to implement long term and sustainable solutions to issues within production / operations.
  • Must be a confident decision maker and capable of making decisions within time and information constraints. Ability to quantify results, identify new opportunities, adapt to change, and interface with all levels of management on a continual basis is required. Must be able to operate independently.
  • Ability to perform calculus and statistical analysis functions. Proficiency in MS Project and engineering/maintenance software are required.
  • This position normally works in a manufacturing environment with limited time spent in the office. The noise level is usually moderate. Hearing, eye and foot protection are mandatory when entering the plant.
