Maintenance Manager
The Opportunity
Are you passionate about maintaining safe, welcoming environments for seniors? Chartwell is seeking a Maintenance Manager who will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of our residence, including equipment, furnishings, and surrounding areas. This role is essential to ensure that our physical environment supports the comfort and safety of our residents and aligns with Chartwell’s Brand and Health & Safety standards.
What You’ll Do- Plan and implement preventative maintenance to ensure all systems and facilities are well-maintained
- Respond promptly to repair needs in resident areas and common spaces
- Maintain safety and appearance by servicing fixtures, preparing units, and coordinating vendor work
- Source and manage external service providers, ensuring cost-effective and compliant procurement
- Lead maintenance and housekeeping staff and participate in Health & Safety initiatives and Manager on Duty rotation
- Provide professional, responsive service to residents, staff, and vendors.
- Minimum one to three years' experience in a supervisor role
- Extensive experience in building maintenance and systems; ability to coordinate tasks with vendors and perform hands-on repairs
- Trade certification or maintenance training preferred
- Experience with carpentry, plumbing, painting, and equipment preferred
- Supervisory or leadership experience in maintenance or building operations
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to plan and prioritize work
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Clear communicator with strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of safety procedures within healthcare an asset
- Flexible for on-call and varied hours
- Valid Driver’s License, or reliable means of transportation

- Valid driver’s license may be required
- Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and climbing
- Must carry a company-issued phone and respond to emergency situations as needed
- Comfort using AI and other digital platform systems and tools to support daily work
- Clear Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required
