Maintenance Manager

Position Summary: This position is responsible for managing, directing and coordinating maintenance and facilities operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the staff and activities of the Maintenance Department, including building operations, equipment uptime, employee discipline, mentoring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Administer and monitor preventive maintenance programs, by utilizing hands-on skills, co-worker development, and managerial expertise.
  • Work with the Management team to negotiate and monitor external service contracts and forecast financial budgets pertaining to facility maintenance and long-term planning.
  • Maintain and be the contact person for: electrical, HVAC, lighting, sprinkler, and other fire prevention systems, sewage, plumbing, water, gas lines, energy equipment, company vehicles and Building Automation systems.
  • Oversee landscaping, snow removal, recycling/garbage disposal machinery.
  • Conduct building, roof, grounds, parking structure maintenance, including other tasks such as ongoing renovations and major retrofits, including working with construction contractors.
  • Implement and monitor department routines and procedures.
  • Evaluate construction methods and/or materials to determine which have the net result of reducing costs, and achieve specified performance, reliability, maintainability, aesthetic, safety, and security criteria.
  • Contribute as a member of the Food Safety Committee and lead the Facility Maintenance team.
  • Responsible for knowledge and adherence to Safe Quality Food Safety Level 2 compliance standards; as trained upon annually.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of equipment operations in a manufacturing setting with 10+ years of facilities experience.
  • Technical school degree reflecting at least one of these major trades: HVAC, Electrical, building, construction, operating engineer, or a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
  • Ability to solve problems using the combined talents of various individuals within the organization.
  • Use Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to improve production performance.
  • Excellent team building skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD
  • Ability to interact in a positive way with all personnel within the organization and customers.
