Maintenance Mechanic- Full Time, Facilities/Engineering (Harrah's SoCal)

A Facility Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the physical functionality and safety of the of hotel and casino while continuing the efforts to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

  • Responsible for maintaining the physical structure and grounds of the casino/hotel property in like-new condition including guestrooms, electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, casino floor, exterior grounds, pool area, wastewater plant and rooftops.
  • Must be able to use two-way radios, telephones, and various types of maintenance equipment.
  • Perform interior and exterior property maintenance, such as carpentry repair, painting and all other functions necessary to maintain the facility and property.
  • Complete maintenance request in a timely manner. These may include change out light bulbs, vinyl repairs, touch up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, tile repair. Maintenance for equipment such as ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen and laundry equipment, HVAC, guest rooms, meeting rooms, public area spaces, swimming pool and spa.
  • Have working ability with HVAC, electrical, plumbing and carpentry as needed.
  • Perform room preventative maintenance to maintain rooms/suites for guest satisfaction.
  • Conduct periodic tours of the exterior perimeter for debris and trash removal and maintenance repairs.
  • Check exterior lighting and irrigation periodically.
  • Participate in all-employee meetings, events and other functions required by management.
  • Follow all compliance standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient casino/hotel operations.
  • Practice safety throughout the work shift by removing/correcting and identifying hazards.
  • Must be able to follow safety practices, such as wearing personal protective equipment, reading chemical warning labels and other safe work practices.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required by management.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by management.
  • Must have a minimum 1 year of hotel/casino or 3 years of construction or maintenance experience.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to get along well with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be capable of maneuvering for prolonged periods of time, both inside and outside sometimes in temperatures in excess of 115 degrees or cold temperatures below 10 degrees.
  • Must possess coordination and dexterity to work with power and hand tools such as drills, electric saws, hammers, etc.
  • Respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, jump, and carry heavy loads.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to maneuver on level surfaces, as well as up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to think clearly and respond calmly in situations.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Able to operate various types of maintenance equipment.
  • Must be able to understand and follow directions, guidelines, and work objectives as set forth by the supervisor or manager.
  • Must use common sense and integrity in ensuring security of guests’ belongings while working in guest rooms and suites.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating, preventing, and identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to listen to, understand and clarify the issues raised by guests’ and co-workers.

Pay: $24.50 per hour

Preference is given to qualified Rincon tribal members and members of other federally recognized tribes.
