Maintenance Mechanic

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel within the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a permanent, full-time position with New Orleans District, Operations Division. The position performs a wide range of maintenance and repair, carpentry, painting, cement finishing work, lawn maintenance, shop and yard maintenance.

Performs carpentry, painting, cement finishing work and lawn maintenance.

Performs field maintenance repairs to heavy engineering type equipment, rail cranes, personnel carts, tractors, mowers, excavators, dozers and automotive plant.

Operates tractors, dozers, excavators, structure cranes, overhead crane, motor grades, mowers, forklift, dump truck and ATVs/UTVs.

Operates small outboard powered motorboat.

Performs purchase of supplies and parts as a Government Purchase Card (GPC) Holder.

Operates structure cranes during maintenance and flood operations.
