This position is located at the District 04 Headquarters office, in Bossier City, Louisiana. The Maintenance Repairer 2 is responsible for performing routine maintenance, inspection, construction and repair of buildings and grounds, rest areas, pump stations and reinforced PC concrete roadway structures throughout the seven (7) parishes located in District 04. The Maintenance Repairer 2 must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties independently, with little to no supervision, on a daily basis. The Maintenance Repairer 2 is expected to exercise a medium degree of independent judgment and initiative in determining the appropriate action needed to take in non-routine situations that may arise. The Maintenance Repairer 2 must participate in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required task.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Six semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Performs general carpentry work for repairs, alterations, and maintenance of buildings and related structures, including inspections to determine needed actions.
  • Handles carpentry tasks on interiors and exteriors such as repairing shelves, cabinets, windows, furniture, ceilings, partitions, and basic plumbing-related work.
  • Constructs simple structures like tool sheds, house frames, toolboxes, and other small buildings.
  • Installs and repairs wall coverings (paneling, sheetrock, plywood) and performs basic plumbing work, including fixing water/gas lines and installing fixtures.
  • Assists with additional duties as needed, including emergency and disaster response support.
  • The Maintenance Repairer 2 is to perform other general carpentry duties such as buildings, interiors, exteriors, fixtures or repairing shelves, cabinets, windows, furniture, concrete forms, trim ceilings, partitions and other related fields such as plumbing.
  • The Maintenance Repairer 2 is to perform duties constructing simple structures such as tool sheds, house frames, tool boxes and outbuildings.
  • The Maintenance Repairer 2 other duties include Fitting, cutting and fastening all types of wall coverings with paneling, sheet rock, plywood, etc. Makes repairs to water and gas lines, installs various plumbing fixtures in Maintenance Units and Rest Areas.
  • The Maintenance Repairer 2 may be required to perform other duties as necessary, including, but not limited to emergency/disaster support activities.



Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional
Work Schedule: Work hours are 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Thursday, off on Friday.
Compensation:
The starting salary for a Maintenance Repairer 1 is $17.18 hourly.
The starting salary for a Maintenance Repairer 2 is $19.67 hourly.


A valid Louisiana Class “D” Chauffeur’s License is required before appointment.
