Maintenance Training Manager

The Maintenance Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing technical training programs for aircraft maintenance personnel within the organization. This position ensures maintenance training programs meet FAA regulations, OEM standards, and internal safety and quality requirements.

The Maintenance Training Manager oversees training schedules, tracks certifications, conducts audits, evaluates training effectiveness, and works closely with Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Operations, Human Resources, and other organizational stakeholders to ensure maintenance personnel remain proficient, compliant, and prepared to support safe air medical operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive technical training programs for maintenance personnel.
  • Develop training materials including presentations, manuals, assessments, interactive e learning modules, and other instructional resources.
  • Conduct training-needs assessments and identify skill, competency, and performance gaps.
  • Deliver engaging training through classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, virtual learning, simulations, group discussions, and other instructional methods.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable industry regulations.
  • Review existing training programs and recommend enhancements to improve engagement, learning, retention, and effectiveness.
  • Organize and conduct monthly induction and orientation sessions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of maintenance software systems, industry best practices, software releases, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and guidance to maintenance personnel regarding maintenance software systems and functionality.
  • Maintain accurate training records, attendance documentation, evaluations, and training materials.
  • Prepare reports regarding training outcomes, effectiveness, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge resources for maintenance software systems.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Operations, Human Resources, Regional Managers, software vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects requiring maintenance training expertise.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft maintenance practices, technical documentation, maintenance records, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience training, mentoring, coaching, or providing technical instruction to maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective training through classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, virtual learning, and/or other instructional methods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn and effectively utilize maintenance, training, and learning-management software systems.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple training initiatives, schedules, records, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Maintenance, Quality, Safety, Operations, Human Resources, and other organizational departments.
  • Ability to travel as required and work a flexible schedule when operational or training needs require.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate.
  • Experience developing, implementing, or managing a formal aviation maintenance training program.
  • Experience operating within an FAA Part 135 and/or Part 145 environment.
  • Fixed-wing and/or rotor-wing aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Experience developing curricula, presentations, technical manuals, assessments, e-learning content, or other instructional materials.
  • Knowledge of adult-learning principles, instructional design, competency-based training, and training evaluation methods.
  • Experience conducting or supporting maintenance audits, quality assurance activities, regulatory inspections, or compliance reviews.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance tracking systems, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and electronic training-record systems.
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations, OEM maintenance requirements, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and other applicable technical or regulatory guidance.
  • Experience analyzing training needs, identifying competency or performance gaps, and implementing corrective training.
  • Experience within air medical, EMS aviation, or another safety-sensitive aviation environment.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
This position primarily operates in an office environment with occasional exposure to hangar facilities. The position requires prolonged periods of sitting and computer work, frequent verbal and written communication, and the ability to read documents and computer screens.

The position may require lifting up to 50 pounds, navigating organizational facilities, traveling as needed, and working a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends. Occasional exposure to hazardous materials, loud noise, and extreme temperatures may occur.
