Maintenance Worker (Leaf Pickup)

We are looking for three individuals to assist our Public Works Department with leaf pick up this Fall. Would begin on Monday, October 26th and work through approximately Friday, December 18th, Monday- Friday from 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with 1/2 hour lunch based upon work needs. This position is a seasonal position and is not subject to overtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with curbside leaf collection operations, including raking leaves and safely operating leaf-collection hoses and related equipment.
• Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and basic maintenance of leaf-collection equipment before and after daily operations.
• Perform assigned duties outdoors in varying weather conditions, including cold, rain, snow, and extreme heat.
• Properly wear and maintain all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, eye protection, hearing protection, and high-visibility outerwear.
• Assist the Street Supervisor and other Public Works personnel with additional maintenance activities, projects, and operational needs as assigned.

Compensation
Compensation for this position is $16.00 to $17.50 per hour. DOQ.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must be on time and dependable to show up as scheduled, except for unforeseeable emergencies.

• Cannot be under the influence of any form of marijuana, canibis, or THC. (Applicant will have to pass a drug test prior to being hired and is subject to drug testing for reasonable suspicion or post accident/injury).
• Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position. (This will include walking and/or standing for long periods of time, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, raking, climbing, and sitting)
• Able to be out in the climate for most of the day.
