MAMMOGRAPHY/DEXA Technologist
Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Medical Imaging Director, the mammography/DEXA Technologist performs all general radiography examinations, evaluates images for technical quality, verify in PACS, completes work in RIS and is able to answer patient, technologist and radiologist questions. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Explain procedures and educate patients about the role of regular mammography in
preventive breast health
• Conduct daily, weekly and monthly QC testing to ensure the quality control functions related to mammography
• Processes and archives images in accordance with established procedures
• May be required to perform multi-modality exams (DEXA, X-rays) depending on the site-specific requirements
• Perform Screening and Diagnostic Mammogram procedures
• Perform stereotactic, needle localizations or Bone Density (DXA) examinations
• Maintains X-ray and other equipment in efficient operating order
• Obtains patient history, answers patient questions, and explains procedures
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams, in meetings and
on committees
• Performs patient follow-up as required by MQSA/ACR standards
• Perform other duties as assigned.
