Summary
The Management & Leadership Solutions Product Manager manages the development, delivery, performance, and continuous improvement of SHRM’s management and leadership development portfolio. This role translates approved product strategies, customer needs, and validated concepts into relevant, scalable solutions that build the capabilities of managers, leaders, teams, and organizations.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Professional Development Products, the Product Manager manages assigned products throughout the product lifecycle, from development and launch through ongoing optimization and enhancement. The role works cross-functionally with Product Strategy & Portfolio, Instructional Design, Audience, Marketing, Technology/LXP, Operations, and other partners to develop new solutions, strengthen existing offerings, and deliver high-quality customer and participant experiences.

Responsibilities
Product Development & Delivery

Translate approved concepts, product strategies, and priorities into clear product requirements, development plans, delivery models, and launch-ready offerings.
Lead the development and launch of assigned management and leadership products, ensuring solutions address defined customer needs, business objectives, and leadership development outcomes.
Develop and manage product requirements, milestones, timelines, dependencies, risks, success measures, and implementation plans.
Partner with Instructional Design, facilitators, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to develop relevant, practical, and engaging leadership development experiences.
Coordinate cross-functional launch readiness across Marketing, Audience, Technology/LXP, Operations, Sales, and other partners.
Monitor development progress, identify risks and barriers, and drive resolution to support successful and timely product launches.

Product Lifecycle Management

Manage the ongoing performance, quality, relevance, and participant experience of assigned products throughout the product lifecycle.
Analyze utilization, customer and participant feedback, financial and product performance, and market trends to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
Develop and maintain product roadmaps, content refresh plans, review cycles, and enhancement priorities.
Recommend product updates, enhancements, repositioning, consolidation, or sunset actions based on performance, customer needs, and market conditions.
Lead implementation of approved enhancements to content, delivery methods, learning journeys, and participant experiences.
Establish and monitor appropriate product success measures and use results to inform ongoing product decisions and improvements.

Management & Leadership Solutions

Develop solutions that address the evolving needs of managers and leaders at different career stages and levels of responsibility.
Create connected development experiences that support progression from emerging and new managers through experienced and senior leadership roles.
Ensure offerings reflect current workplace challenges, leadership research, adult-learning principles, customer needs, and market expectations.
Develop and manage solutions across cohort-based, instructor-led, digital, blended, and enterprise delivery models.
Identify opportunities to strengthen the integration and consistency of management and leadership offerings across the portfolio.
Explore and incorporate AI, simulations, assessments, coaching, and other emerging approaches that strengthen development outcomes, customer experience, and scalability.

Cross-Functional Execution & Stakeholder Management

Lead cross-functional execution of assigned product development, launch, and enhancement initiatives.
Partner with Product Strategy & Portfolio to provide feasibility, market, delivery, customer, and performance insights that inform product and portfolio decisions.
Incorporate audience, organizational buyer, participant, facilitator, and other stakeholder feedback into product development and continuous improvement plans.
Partner with Marketing and Sales to provide product information, positioning inputs, value propositions, and launch and sales enablement support.
Manage relationships and deliverables with vendors, facilitators, coaches, contractors, and subject matter experts supporting assigned products.
Facilitate cross-functional working sessions and maintain alignment on responsibilities, dependencies, decisions, timelines, and next steps.
Maintain visibility into product progress, risks, decisions, performance, and outcomes and communicate relevant information to stakeholders and leadership.

Education & Experience Requirements
Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in product management, business, leadership development, organizational development, learning and development, human resources, or a related field, or relevant equivalent experience in lieu of degree.

Experience

Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience in product management, leadership development, management development, professional learning, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated experience developing, launching, managing, and improving management or leadership development products, programs, or solutions.
Experience translating customer needs and product direction into requirements, development plans, delivery models, and scalable offerings.
Experience managing products or solutions through multiple stages of the product lifecycle.
Experience working with cohort-based, instructor-led, digital, blended, or enterprise learning solutions.
Experience managing complex, cross-functional product development or implementation initiatives.
Experience managing vendors, facilitators, coaches, contractors, or subject matter experts.
Experience using customer feedback, participant data, market insights, and product performance information to inform product decisions and improvements.
Experience in an association, professional education, membership, consulting, or knowledge-based organization preferred.

Understanding of the development needs of managers, leaders, teams, and organizational buyers.
Ability to translate approved product strategies and customer needs into clear product requirements, development plans, and executable solutions.
Strong project and product management skills, including the ability to establish priorities, manage timelines and dependencies, identify risks, and drive work to completion.
Ability to interpret customer feedback, participant data, product performance, and market insights and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
Strong business judgment and problem-solving skills.
Strong cross-functional collaboration, relationship management, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to influence and build alignment across teams without direct authority.
Ability to independently manage multiple products and development initiatives with competing priorities.

Practical understanding of AI and emerging technologies and the ability to apply them appropriately to product development, learning experiences, scalability, and work quality. Ability to effectively leverage artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to streamline workflows, enhance productivity, and improve overall work quality.

This position operates in a typical office environment (which includes a home office setting) and requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements may include:

Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, handling documents, and using office equipment.
Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

Work Environment
Hybrid Schedule (3 Days In-Office/2 Days Remote)
This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00–9:00 a.m. and concluding between 5:00–6:00 p.m. local time.
Travel: Occasional 0 – 10%

The hiring range for this position is $105,000 to $130,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
