OneTank (a part of the Trimac family of companies) is a rapidly growing, North American bulk trailer leasing company focused on providing reliable, flexible, cost-effective equipment solutions to our customers. We are in growth mode, with significant opportunities ahead of us and are looking for a driven, energetic, entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to accelerate and play a meaningful role in expanding our customer base, developing new markets, and building long term customer relationships.

This is an opportunity that goes beyond a traditional sales role with the chance to build and develop relationships and opportunities from the ground up, while also directly guiding and influencing the direction, strategy and growth of OneTank.

The Business Development Manager role is to grow trailer leasing revenues through new customer acquisition and existing customer relationships for both used and new bulk trailer equipment. This role is responsible for sourcing equipment and identifying opportunities with shippers, private fleets, and carriers who require bulk trailers on a lease basis.

  • Bulk trailer equipment specification and commodity knowledge
  • Works efficiently and independently to deliver results
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong analytical capabilities for rate quotations, costing process, and financial structures for leases
  • Proficiency with CRM and Microsoft Office suite

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for:

  • Achieving budgeted EBITDA and growth targets through the development of new leasing opportunities for both new and used equipment
  • Understanding trends in bulk transportation and trailer demand by commodity/region to drive a focus and prioritized approach to sales activity and shape growth strategy
  • Identify, prospect, and develop new customer relationships to identify and acquire new leasing opportunities
  • Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline of qualified customers and opportunities
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients by providing addressing customer concerns, lease renewals, and fleet optimization advice
  • Identify and source equipment suitable for lease, and prepare business case for capital approval
  • Ensure trailer availability, specification alignment, and maintenance to ensure leased assets meet customer requirements, DOT, and industry standards
  • Coordinate equipment relocations and storage parking
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and lease to potential clients and partners
  • Manage the sales process from initial contact, lead the negotiation and closure of business deals, including pricing and all contract terms, and onboarding
  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to track progress and evaluate the effectiveness of business development efforts
  • Liaise with internal departments such as Fleet, Legal, Risk & Insurance, Finance, IT, as required
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on business development activities, pipeline, and results by maintaining accurate CRM activity and forecasting

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales or business development within bulk trucking, tank trailer, equipment leasing, or transportation
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, marketing or related field.
  • Proven experience to prospect, negotiate, and close profitable deals in business development, sales or related field
