As the Claims Manager - Property you will provide operational and technical leadership and oversight to a group of Technical Claims Supervisors and their teams and/or Technical Claims Consultants. In this role you will be accountable for the effective daily delivery of a superior client experience, maintenance of a highly engaged workforce, management of loss costs and adherence to claims handling guidelines. You will be responsible for the execution of strategic initiatives within teams to position Co-operators as THE industry leader in claims service and results.
How you will create impact:
- Create a client service culture and embed client engagement into the claims operation, inspiring and motivating the claims team to be THE industry leader in client engagement. Develop and build service expertise and knowledge in the business operations, remain current on technology used by staff in serving our clients.
- Accountable for recruitment, selection and retention within the claims unit. Review, analyze and recommend staffing decisions. Proactively identify future staffing needs through attrition forecasting and predict hiring needs based on the forecast to maintain required staff complement.
- Provide technical coaching, direction, and support to Supervisors and team members. Commit to coaching and inspiring staff to grow in their position, develop their skills and future potential. Responsible to ensure that development plans, coaching and mentoring are an integral part of the claims unit.
- Execute on operational workforce plans and regularly monitor telephone and performance metrics for unit and individuals to ensure key metrics are accomplished.
- Formulates and manages workflows, productivity, operational standards and processes for the claims unit, ensuring adherence to claims practices and procedures.
- Deliver ongoing communication to unit staff, distribution partners and other key stakeholders, management and service partners in a consistent and timely manner.
- Participate in the implementation of change initiatives using effective change management principles to minimize service impacts, increase the speed of adoption and realize benefits.
- Responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and results of the functional area including human resource activities for direct reports and team members.
To join our team:
- You have five (5) years of successful related insurance experience OR related business experience. You have demonstrated successful experience in coaching and leading others with a focus on teamwork and professionalism.
- You have a post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management or a related field.
- You have or are working towards the FCIP designation or CIP, plus other related courses and pursuing further development.
- This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

Salary information
Expected salary range $91,058 to $141,000+
The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.
Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
