Position Overview:

The Cloud Engineering Manager leads the design, operation, and continuous improvement of the company's cloud platform infrastructure and operations, driving performance across four core pillars: Stability, Security, Efficiency, and Cost. This role combines hands-on technical ownership with team leadership, ensuring the cloud platform reliably and securely supports the business across regions.

Job Descriptions:

1. Platform Development & Architecture

  • Lead the planning, build-out, and continuous optimization of the cloud platform's operations framework and supporting systems.
  • Drive applied research into cloud computing technologies and translate findings into improved automation, standardization, and intelligent operations capability.
  • Ensure the platform runs stably and efficiently as it scales.

2. Environment Management

  • Own day-to-day operations and management of production, testing, and development environments.
  • Establish environment maintenance procedures to detect and resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide a stable, reliable infrastructure foundation for R&D and business teams.

3. Resource & Cost Management

  • Plan, configure, and manage compute, storage, network, and database resources.
  • Continuously optimize resource utilization; identify and remediate waste.
  • Drive ongoing, disciplined cloud cost optimization and reporting.

4. Operations Tooling & Systems

  • Build, maintain, and optimize the tools and systems supporting cloud operations, including monitoring, alerting, logging, automation, and release/deployment systems.
  • Continuously improve system availability, stability, and operational efficiency.

5. Stability & Incident Management

  • Own platform monitoring and alert management; detect, analyze, locate, and resolve platform and infrastructure issues.
  • Build incident response, remediation, retrospective, and continuous-improvement processes to reduce incident frequency and impact.
  • Drive ongoing improvement in platform reliability and stability.

6. Security & Data Compliance

  • Own security management for cloud infrastructure and the broader operations framework.
  • Implement access control, permissions management, data protection, security monitoring, and compliance requirements.
  • Proactively identify and remediate security risks to protect the platform and business data.

7. Automation, AI & Efficiency

  • Drive ongoing automation of cloud operations, leveraging AI to reduce repetitive manual work.
  • Use automation tools, scripts, and platform capabilities to improve the speed and accuracy of resource delivery, environment maintenance, incident handling, and daily operations.

8. Team Leadership

  • Manage, coach, and grow a team of cloud engineers, setting priorities and performance expectations.
  • Partner with regional stakeholders (Singapore, North America, China) to align cloud operations with business needs.
  • Report on platform health, cost, and security posture to senior leadership.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure/operations, including 2+ years in a team lead or management capacity.
  • Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure and/or GCP); multi-cloud experience is a strong plus.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation) and scripting/automation (Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tooling (e.g., Datadog, CloudWatch, Wiz).
  • Working knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
  • Experience driving cloud cost optimization / FinOps practices.
  • Strong incident management discipline, including root-cause analysis and post-mortems.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills; comfortable working with distributed, multi-region teams.
  • Willingness to participate in a scheduled on-call rotation
  • Fluency in spoken Mandarin to liaise with Chinese counterparts
